World Accreditation Day 2012 in China

On June 9, 2012, the celebration of World Accreditation Day 2012 was held in Beijing. The following distinguished guests attended and made important speeches at the conference: Mr. Hua Jianmin, Vice-chairman of NPC Standing Committee (the National People’s Congress of P.R.C); Mr. Zhi Shuping, Minister of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of P.R.C (AQSIQ); Mr. Sun Dawei, Administrator of Certification and Accreditation Administration of P.R.C (CNCA) and Madam Wang Fengqing, Chair of China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS), and Mr. Xiao Jianhua, Chief Executive of CNAS.
Over 300 representatives were present at the conference, including the academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and those from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ministry of Environmental Protection, CNCA, CNAS, bodies and industries engaged in conformity assessment activities and from various circles.
It was the fifth World Accreditation Day jointly sponsored by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) . It intended to push forward the global wide development of certification and accreditation. This year’s theme is how accreditation supports the availability of safe food and clean drinking water. The conference held in Beijing was focused on Delivering trust and Supporting development; as well as Promoting certification and accreditation and Strengthening quality infrastructure.
As the signatory of IAF MLA and ILAC MRA, China held series celebration every year in order to promote the certification and accreditation, boost the international exchange and cooperation and provide better service to the overall economic and social development in China. The celebration of the fifth World Accreditation Day in Beijing was jointly sponsored by AQSIQ and CNCA. The conference was organized by CNAS together with China Certification and Accreditation Association, and China Certification and Accreditation Institute of CNCA.
