China accreditation system, which is in line with international practices and has Chinese characteristics, plays a more and more important role in facilitating international trade with the development of China certification and accreditation. Being invited by Cambodia Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, Myanmar Ministry of Science and Technology, and Lao DPR Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a delegation led by Madame Wang Fengqing, Chairperson of CNAS, visited these three countries so as to meet the overall situation of foreign affairs and trade, and to further enhance the cooperation and exchanges with neighboring ASEAN countries and their accreditation bodies in late December 2011. Mr. Xiao Jianhua, Chief Executive of CNAS, attended the visit as a delegation member. During the visit, the delegation met and had discussions with Ministers and Directors of related government departments. The delegation also visited China Embassies in these three countries for advice.

During the visit, Madame Wang Fengqing mentioned respectively in Cambodia, Lao DPR and Myanmar that both countries had profound traditional friendship, certain degree of complementary in economics and trade. Especially that extensive cooperation had been carried out in mechanical and electrical products, agricultural products, automobile and energy, and many bilateral cooperation agreements had been signed in quality inspection field. However, few cooperation in certification and accreditation had been carried out at the moment. Therefore, cooperation in this field needed to be enhanced. Madame Wang Fengqing particularly pointed out that in order to meet the need for entering WTO and developing socialist market economy, to promote the sound and orderly development of certification and accreditation and fulfill China government’s commitment for entering WTO, China established unitary national certification and accreditation system, and presented some successful experience. Mr. Xiao Jianhua mainly introduced the development and achievements of China accreditation system.
 
Cambodia Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, Myanmar Ministry of Science and Technology, and Lao DPR Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry highly appraised China certification and accreditation system, the achievements it had obtained and its international influence. All these three government departments expressed their wishes of strengthening cooperation with China accreditation body to provide them help and support so as to promote the steady and sound development of bilateral trade and trade between China and ASEAN by means of carrying out technical training and workshop, and signing MOU and cooperation agreements, etc.

This visit has achieved a complete success. CNAS not only learned the latest development of relevant laws and regulations, certification and accreditation systems and standard systems of Cambodia, Lao DPR and Myanmar but also reached cooperation intention with related government departments.
